Just hours after Congress adopted the most sweeping health insurance reform legislation in decades, Washington's Attorney General Rob McKenna announced that he will join a lawsuit against the bill. Rather than supporting legislation that will extend health insurance to 32 million Americans, McKenna joined 11 other Republican Attorneys General who are pledging to take it to the Supreme Court if necessary.

We are disappointed to hear that you have joined a partisan group of Attorneys General planning to sue the United States of America to block health care reform. At a time when hundreds of thousands of people in Washington cannot afford health care or face discrimination because of pre-existing medical conditions, it is inappropriate that you would use the resources of your office to pursue a political agenda that traps all of us in a broken health care system.
